About Me:
I am a avid homebrewer and winemaker. I’ve been making my own beer and wine for many years. I started making beer when I was in college (mostly because the drinking age in the United States is 21). My first few beers were horrible. The beers are much better now, and I often supply my neighborhood with free beer! It is a great hobby!

I’ve been programming computers since I was 10. I first learned BASIC on a Sinclair computer and I’ve been programming ever since. I have a degree in Computer Science from Regis University, and a masters in Computer Science from the University of Colorado - Denver. I currently work as a software engineer consultant.

My current favorite video games are Call of Duty, Guitar Hero, and Oblivion - all for the X-Box 360.

Just tried a heather ale!

At the suggestion of a friend, I tried Fraoch Heather Ale. This beer is a bit different than most beers because the beer uses heather to bitter the beer instead of hops, but no so different that the beer is not familiar. If you're looking for a "hop recession proof" beer, I'd give this one a try. I'm going to try to find a recipe for it too! You can read more about it on my site. Cheers!

Beer Facts and a Digg-like site for Beer Bloggers

Hey all! I just added a post about some random beer facts. It's a collection of stuff I found out while researching for other articles. They seem to be popular, so I'll do these as I accumulate factoids. If you are a blogger about beer, you might also find BeerPoll interesting. It was started by the guy who writes BeerSmith. He started a Digg-like site for articles about beer. This is really co… Continue

The Brew House beer kits

If you have seen these kits in your LHBS and wondered if they are any good, I wrote a review about the ktis. The short story is that it produces good beer, but the one I tried didn't "wow" me. If you are looking to try homebrewing, but don't want to be bothered with all the boiling and equipment, these are a great way to go. I'll probably try others over the summer to see how they are.

Belgian Wits and Alcohol Bloggers

For all you homebrewers out there, I just posted an article about how to make Belgian wits. It's a popular spring/summer beer that almost went extinct in the 1950s! I'm also highlighting different alcohol bloggers each week. Last week I had the spotlight on Intoxicated Zodiac, and this week I'm highlighting The Beer Philosopher. If you are interested in learning more about the alcohol bloggers on the internet, check it out!
