Our trip to Maine was the last of three successive quickie beer trips. Centered on Portland, Maine's largest city and brewing center, we also managed visits to breweries in small town Maine during our short visit.
In our two day visit, we experienced Maine's craft beer pioneers such as Geary's and the Great Lost Bear plus the newcomers Novare Res Bier Café and Maine Beer Company. And we ate a lot of lobster too.
We both reached the 500 brewery mark on the trip. Chris added eight breweries (503… Continue
“Three Days in the Big Apple” is the latest episode of One Pint at a Time.
This was our first trip to New York City. We always try to maximize the experiences in our beer travels but, even for us, the list for this trip was ambitious. We had 32 beer places to visit and only three days to do it. Turns out, the number wasn’t our biggest obstacle to reaching our goal.
So enjoy our f… Continue
We survived our first visit to the Big Apple. And I do mean "survived."
It was a great time. We met a lot of nice people and drank a lot of tasty beers that we don't get out here in California. There was just one problem: the weather.
It dominated the whole trip. We used to dread rain when we were on our beer travels. Now, we know there is a bigger nemesis, humidity.
We arrived in New York City with a list of 32 beer places to visit. We knew we weren't going to reach them all but it was fun t… Continue

“Three Cities, Three Styles” is the latest episode of One Pint at a Time.
We are firm believers in beer needing to be tried in context of its culture. “Three Cities, Three Styles” was born out of this belief. We visited three German cities, Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Cologne, that each has it’s own unique style of beer. Over three days, we got to experience each beer style in the place of its birth. That is something special.… Continue

We really like Germany.
This was our ninth trip to Germany, tying it with Ireland for our most traveled foreign land.
But this trip we tried to do something different. After a few days in Munich getting acclimated to Europe, we embarked on a "City with a Beer Style" tour.
We visited three cities that have their own beer style: Dortmund, Düsseldorf and Köln. We tried to experience as much of each city's beer culture in our time there as we could. We quaffed Export in Dortmund, Altbier in Düsse… Continue
